Red Bull’s “Can You Make It?” Campaign
Last month, energy drink provider, Red Bull, sponsored its annual “Can You Make It?” challenge by hosting 165 international teams all competing for a chance to spend a summer as brand ambassadors for youth travel provider, Contiki Vacations. Aside from the grand prize, the challenge presented an amazing opportunity for teams to travel throughout Europe while testing their skills of strength and endurance, knowledge and problem solving, and overall wit. The challenge? Teams were given no money, cell phones, or pre-arranged forms of transportation in order to reach the finish line except for one thing to barter with: Cans of Red Bull.
Teams were presented with several obstacles along the way, all which were documented via a website called redbullcanyoumakeit.com. One of the ways for teams to earn “bonus points” was based off of their social media engagement. As you can see, Red Bull relied heavily on content creation to make this brand building campaign a success. The social media numbers articulated were enormous, with the event garnering nearly 4 million likes and shares the brand building campaign was definitely a success. On top of it all, more than 16,000 cans of Red Bull were used as a form of currency throughout the week, undoubtedly increasing the businesses brand exposure across Europe.
