While “the king of beers” has used stars and stripes in previous years in an attempt to boost patriotism, and in return sales for their company, what Budweiser plans to do next is no doubt one of their biggest packaging changes yet. Belgian-Brazilian owned, A-B Inbev, brewers of Budweiser beer, confirmed their plans to roll out limited-edition label changes, replacing “Budweiser” with “America” on their 12-oz. cans. The new packaging will begin in circulation this week and run through the end of election season in November. The change of labeling will be surrounded by a brand building campaign called “America is in Your Hands”. Additional changes to the cans include phrases such as “E Pluribus Unum”, “Indivisible since 1776”, and lyrics from “This Land is Your Land”.
By appealing to the emotions of an enormous beer-drinking market, Budweiser has made a genius marketing move.
