UFC 200: The Return of Lesnar

Nicholas Tice / Contributor

After an exciting night of fighting this past weekend, the UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship) has once again used their savvy promoting skills to get the world buzzing about UFC 200 this July. During Saturday night’s UFC 199, fans witnessed the United Kingdom crown their first UFC champion when Michael Bisping knocked out Luke Rockhold for the Middleweight title fight. Bisping was able to capture the championship belt on only 17-days notice for the UFC 199 title match. Although the fans were focused on the fights underway on Saturday, the UFC had their attention directed towards the next UFC main event, UFC 200. As fighters went to war, the announcement was made that former UFC champ and current WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment) super star, Brock Lesnar, would be coming out of retirement to step into The Octagon once again for UFC 200.

This announcement came as a shock to the Ultimate Fighting community since Lesnar stated in March last year that he was “shutting the door” on fighting. Another huge story broke Saturday night when the UFC confirmed that Connor McGregor would be having his rematch with Nate Diaz this August at UFC 202. With the addition of legend Brock Lesnar to the upcoming fight card, UFC 200 has the makings of a legendary night for the UFC. Headlining the event will be Daniel Cormier and John “Bones” Jones in a bout for the Light Heavyweight title, with the undercard packed with UFC talent as well. The undercard will feature UFC champ Miesha Tate, former champs Jose Aldo, Johny Hendricks, and T.J. Dillashaw, and Activ8 Media’s own Travis Browne.

When it comes to promoting an event, the UFC is among the most skilled in the game. Before UFC 199 was even over, the company built off the excitement being created by the fighters to showcase their next main event. This included a short video featuring the fighters of UFC 200 that went viral overnight. Activ8 Media has a wealth of experience in business with promotions, including the UFC, and is able to utilize lessons learned in promotion through the UFC and its fighters to help its clients generate excitement for their brand.
