Stieber Looks To Impress

After weeks of uncertainty do to President Donald Trump’s proposed travel ban, Team USA’s freestyle wrestling team has landed in Iran for the 2017 World Cup. Even with the tensions between the United States and Iran, there has always been nothing but respect and honor on the wrestling mat between the two countries. This was on full display as Iranian fans swarmed Team USA for pictures of the champions on the team and presented the team with flowers and tea.

Among the contingency of Americans wrestling at the World Cup this week is Max Effort Muscle athlete Logan Stieber. As a four time NCAA champion for the Ohio State Buckeyes, Stieber claimed his first world title last year in the 61-kilo weight class by beating several decorated grapplers from Russia, Georgia, Iran, and Ukraine. His impressive run may have shocked the world, but the USA has been confident in Stieber’s world class ability since high school. Like the World Championships, Logan must have an impressive showing to leave Iran with gold. Potentially, he could face an Olympic Champion, a World Champion, and the same opponent he defeated for the gold medal last year. Even with the odds stacked against him, it is hard to bet against Logan Stieber’s skill, guts, and determination.

Along with Logan, Team USA will also be sending world bronze medalist James Green, 4x world champion Jordan Burroughs and the youngest Olympic Freestyle Champion in United States history, Kyle Snyder. With such a young talented line up, there is no question Team USA has the potential to return to the United States with a team title.
