Steph vs LeBron and Marketing Gold

Nicholas Tice / Contributor

From a marketing standpoint, the National Basketball Association (NBA) has a huge opportunity for this year’s NBA Finals series. After a very emotional finals conference, the Golden State Warriors and Cleveland Cavaliers have emerged as the best of the best for a second consecutive year. With the Warriors finally getting back in their groove under the leadership of consecutive MVP, Steph Curry, LeBron James and the Cavaliers have their hands full if they want to bring a title back to Cleveland.

Steph Curry and LeBron James, arguably the biggest names in all of sports in recent years,  have both overcome adversity to reach this year’s championship. For Curry, it came in the form of multiple leg injuries keeping him out for the beginning of the playoffs, while LeBron spent most of the season under fire from the media and fans for not being much of a team player at times. Regardless of their adversities, a showdown between these two living legends has the world of sports anticipating an exciting series.

Although the Finals have yet to be played, many believe they will go down as one of the best in NBA history. The stories behind these teams are marketing gold; the story line with everything from a hometown hero fighting against the odds to the best regular season team in history looking to win back to back titles.
