Snapchat Lens Boosts Empire Awareness

Snapchat Lens Boosts Empire Awareness

Jake Andrusko / Contributor

It’s a well-known fact that one of the most used features on the social media platform, Snapchat, are the multiple different lenses which enables users to overlay graphics or change the contour of their pictures and videos. During the month of March, the FOX Television Network ran a sponsored campaign on Snapchat using this feature to promote the second half of Season 2 of its popular television drama, Empire.

Upon receiving the results back from the campaign, FOX was quite satisfied with the numbers. The campaign, within a month’s time, had boosted brand awareness by 16 “points”. These points refer to surveys in which participants answer questionnaires after they use or view an advertisement about what they experienced. It also jumped the “tune-in intent” up eight percent according to Snapchat. However, these numbers are based off of a very small percentage of people who actually interacted with the sponsored advertisement. The Empire lens was viewed around 61 million times by Snapchat users, with over half of them actually applying the filter.

What is clearly shown from this is the correlation between a strong brand building campaign, and the importance of the relationship between consumer engagements via social media interaction.
