NFL and Snapchat to Continue Partnership

Over the past few years, social media has become a massive part of our lives. From keeping tabs on family members on Facebook or catching up with old high school classmates, social media has given us a medium to communicate unlike anything we have seen in the past.

In recent years, large corporations and businesses have jumped on the social bandwagon and have solidified deals with major social networking companies. One of the most prominent examples is the partnership between the National Football League (NFL) and Snapchat. With this agreement, Snapchat is able to stream live videos of on-field action, behind the scenes content, and sideline stories to the public. It has given the common football fan access to their favorite teams and players like never before.

In the first year, both sides boasted 70 million viewers around the world who engaged with their “stories”. This season, the NFL will become the first sports league to be featured on Snapchat’s “Discover” section, where the platform gives quick and easy access to the top stories in sports and pop culture. In addition, the NFL has committed to producing more content for the Snapchat “stories” with extra videos and pictures. The coverage will extend beyond just games and has been said to include the NFL Scouting Combine and the NFL Draft this upcoming year.

This daily exposure for fans will be highlighted with the opportunity for them to submit their own pictures and videos in hopes of being featured on the stories. This means that not only will you be able to see extra content from your favorite team, but also content created by fans just like you.

Snapchat and the NFL will also offer brands the chance to advertise within the stories as well. We have already seen ads start to pop up between stories from our friends, so this could easily be the next venue advertisers decide to pursue and take over.
