NBA Finals Finale

Charlie Mitelhaus / Contributor

A kick to a groin, a shot and a block that will forever be remembered, and a thrilling game seven for the record books. All of this happened in what some have already begun to call one of the greatest NBA Finals matchups of all time. On Father’s Day June 19th 2016, the Cleveland Cavaliers won the 2016 NBA Finals over the reigning NBA champions the Golden State Warriors. In a packed house at Oracle Arena in Oakland, California, the Cleveland Cavaliers came and did what only few predicted would be possible. Beat the 73-9 Golden State Warriors lead by NBA MVP and long-range marksman Stephen Curry in their own backyard.

LeBron James was yet again at the forefront of a terrific NBA Finals game seven. With the biggest game of his career at hand, and a chance to bring an NBA title to Cleveland, Lebron James delivered. The eventual Finals MVP recorded an incredible stat stuffing triple-double where he had 27 points, 11 rebounds, and 11 assists. But the stat that might be remembered the most from this game was his key block on Warriors swingman Andre Iguodala. This block was certainly a block heard around the world as it seemed as though right when the Warriors were going to clinch a late game lead, none other than King James himself came to the rescue with an incredible gravity defying chase down block. After a towering fall away three pointer by Kyrie Irving sunk through the net, the end was set. Soon later the final buzzer sounded and chaos ensued on the court as LeBron James had finally done what he came back to Cleveland to do, win an NBA Championship.
