Jobs’ Imprint Undeniable in Digital Media World

Luke Windel / Contributor

Born 61 years ago today, it can certainly be argued that nobody had more influence in this digital age than Steve Jobs, who died on Oct. 5, 2011.

Jobs, one of the foremost innovative entrepreneur’s of our time, was the co-founder, chairman and CEO of Apple, and also the CEO and largest shareholder of Pixar Animation Studios. He was behind the launch of products that had massive cultural ramifications, including the iMac, iTunes, the iPod, the iPad and, of course, the iPhone. In short, he helped changed the way businesses operate, from marketing to social media to brand activation and nearly everything in between.

Google Facts state that the “iPhone is the second-highest selling product of all-time, behind the Rubik’s Cube,” which is an unbelievable fact. Where would social media be without the iPhone? Would it be anywhere near what it is today? It seems doubtful and that is a tribute to the innovator and outside the box thinker Jobs was.

There is no doubt that a company like Activ8Media, a forewarn-thinking digital marketing agency, wouldn’t be in its present form without the work of people like Jobs, who paved the way for digital media with his products.

His life and legacy was brought to life last year in the Steve Jobs film, a movie that garnered impressive critical praise. Kate Winslet won a Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress, while Aaron Sorkin won for best screen play. Now, the film is back in the spotlight, as Michael Fassbender and Winslet are nominated for Best Actor and Best Supporting Actress, respectively, for this weekend’s Academy Awards.
