Guida Guarantees a Submission Victory over Ortega at UFC 199

Sianna Simon / Contributor

Clay “The Carpenter” Guida will be fighting a featherweight bout against Brian “T-City” Ortega in Los Angeles’s Staples Center at UFC 199 on June 4th. In an interview with Activ8 Media Co-founder and Managing Partner, John Fosco, “The Carpenter” said Ortega can expect to sport “the Guida face” aka, “I’m lost, where are my mom and dad, why did they leave me out here?” face when they square off in seven short weeks.

Ortega is an unbeaten featherweight prospect coming off of a two wins in the octagon with one no contest. One of those wins came against Thiago Tavares, who Guida has most recently lost to. Because of this, Guida is more fired up than ever to show the UFC and his fans that just like in life, fighting too has speed bumps and this Tavares “speedbump” will be an afterthought after he handles his business with Ortega on June 4th.

Guida commented, “patience and things will develop… sometimes guys get caught… eventually you’re going to get caught, no excuses, Tavares was the better man that night, but guess what – I’m going to be the better man in several weeks on June 4th when it counts… I don’t believe in haters,” he went on to say, “because it just motivates me. When people say the word done, when peoples say no, it makes me just want to go to that next level… I’m just getting going in this game, I’m 50 fights deep and I say that the best is yet to come.”

“Bring it on… I respect the fact that he’s a young man and he is calling out a veteran like myself, I tell you what, to me, that is a kid that wants to get better, but guess what you called out the wrong dude, Mr. Ortega… I’m marching on like a soldier because I know what I was put here on this earth to do, and that’s entertain people in a positive way… I’m here to let people know that the underdog should never be counted out, man. Things are going to change and guess what, my hand is going to be raised and it’s going to be an amazing fight… it’s going to be unbelievable man, don’t miss it.

“I’m bringing the heat man… and I’m choking him out in round three (he says as he grabs his bicep for a choke position)”. With a card full of veterans, the return of BJ Penn from retirement, the return of our very own Mr. Clay “The Carpenter” Guida, and heated, headlining rivalries for two title shots, UFC 199 will be one you don’t want to miss.
