Antonio Brown "Committed" to Snapchat

Antonio Brown "Committed" to Snapchat

Todd Sabol / Contributor

A typical relationship involves two people who are committed to each other and each other only. Antonio Brown’s relationship with Snapchat is a little different, however. His commitment to the booming social media brand allows him to connect with millions of his fans via their phones. This level of exposure and rawness with his fans allows them to see him less as a National Football League (NFL) superstar, and more as a human being with a larger-than-life personality, which is exactly what he wants. He doesn’t want them to only see him in a football or fitness setting, in fact he wants them to see him doing the exact opposite types of things.

In a recent article we covered the NFL’s current and future deal with the popular social media platform, and its stars have taken notice. Like Antonio Brown, other players are able to reach out to fans on a daily basis using its quick 10 second “snaps” or multiple “stories” to narrate what is going on in their lives. Antonio Brown’s transparency with his fans is inspired by successful artist, DJ Khaled, who currently holds over 2 million views on his snaps.

Having been friends since 2009, Brown loves the positivity and motivation attached with each post Khaled provides. The admiration is mutual from Khaled’s end too. Khaled knew the potential Brown had coming out of the 2010 draft, when he hosted him at his house for the draft party. “Just because they don’t pick you, and that door is closed, that doesn’t mean you can’t be the greatest ever.” Khaled said.

Piggy-backing off of Khaled, Brown reiterates that he loves Snapchat because “it gives a detailed experience into your life….How I spend my time what I do for fun when I’m not on the field.”

If you look through some archives - from interviews to just clips on the internet, you can see a variety of things Brown does on a daily basis. Overall, social media is very commonly associated with negative consequences, but this is a great example of how it can be an awesome way for fans to get exposure to things they never would have imagined five or ten years ago.

Social media broadcasting is important for a company’s image and just as important for personal branding. Even though some old school fans may not like Brown’s most recent ‘twerking’ touchdown celebration, in situations like this, Activ8 Media can help ensure a positive branding experience for its clients across all media platforms to maximize exposure and positive content.
