76’ers Land First Deal

Beginning in the 2017-2018 National Basketball Association (NBA) season, teams will be sporting paid advertisements on their players’ jerseys. Announced recently, the Philadelphia 76’ers have become the first NBA franchise to partner up with a sponsor for the leagues 3-year pilot program. The ticket resale company, StubHub, owned by eBay, has purchased a small 2.5 by 2.5 inch logo space on the jerseys, sending an estimated $5 million to the league each year.

This type of brand activation is a major stepping-stone for both the NBA and the cooperating businesses whom wish to participate. "We are about being first, being different, being innovative and getting to market at quickly as we can," said 76’ers CEO, Scott O’Neil. Activ8 Media understands the urgency of reaching certain markets in a timely manner when new opportunities present themselves. The enormous brand exposure StubHub will now receive due to today’s digital and social media savvies, providing the ability for anyone to watch any game, any place, and any time, is invaluable. O’Neil also commented stating that StubHub as a company wanted to be “more of a part of the emotional fan experience” instead of just the “transaction-oriented” business they are currently known for.

Whether it be a nation-wide campaign rollout like the partnership with the Philadelphia 76’ers and StubHub, or a startup business looking to get its name out there, Activ8 Media helps businesses and individuals create the necessary awareness in order to see it succeed.
